Weavers’ cooperative societies in the State will get shortly Rs. 240.55 crore for producing sarees and dhotis under the State government’s scheme of free dhotis and sarees.

For the next year’s Pongal festival, about 1.73 lakh sarees and 1.72 lakh dhoties would be distributed to the poor. On the Chief Minister’s direction, a total of Rs. 486.36 crore had been set apart this time, according to an official release.
