Ahead of the crucial meeting of the Cauvery River Authority convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa on Tuesday held discussions with senior cabinet colleagues and officials to finalise the state’s arguments to be placed in the meeting.

Ms. Jayalalithaa chaired a “detailed consultative meeting” with Finance Minister O. Panneerselvam, Electricity Minister Natham R. Viswanathan, besides Chief Secretary Debendranath Sarangi, an official press release here said.

The Chief Minister and her team discussed the issues and arguments to be placed before the CRA on Wednesday, it said.

The CRA is being convened following the Centre’s assurance to the Supreme Court recently. Ms. Jayalalithaa, who will be participating in the meeting, had repeatedly urged the Centre to convene the CRA to discuss the water-sharing dispute with Karnataka.
