Jayalalithaa files defamation case against English daily

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Tuesday filed a defamation case in a city court against a national daily for publishing an item on senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy’s letter to the Prime Minister on issues regarding fishermen in the state.

The petition on Tuesday was filed by City Public Prosecutor ML Jegan on behalf of the Chief Minister in the Principal Sessions Judge Court.

The defamation case was filed against the printer and publisher of the Chennai edition of The Times of Indi a and also Mr. Swamy.

>On Monday on the same issue, she had filed a defamation case against Mr. Swamy and Tamil daily, Dinamalar.

The case against Mr. Swamy was over his remarks related to the issue of fishermen from the state being detained by Sri Lanka.
