AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa on Monday demanded the arrest of former Minister for Communications and Information Technology A. Raja in connection with the 2G spectrum scam. “Mr Raja should be arrested,” she told reporters at the party headquarters when asked about the summons issued by the CBI for interrogation.

She, however, evaded the question on the alliance for the next Assembly election. “We will let you know if there are any developments,” she said.

Earlier, she distributed educational assistance to students from poor families. A total of 41 students received Rs. 13,23,924

A press release from the AIADMK said so far she had released over Rs. 3.69 crore towards providing education to poor students.

Ms Jayalalithaa also gave financial assistance to the family members of party workers who had died while participating in protests organised against the DMK government. A total of 19 families received Rs. 11,50,000.
