Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Saturday condoled the death of eight persons, six of who were electrocuted after they stepped on snapped live wire, since July 18 in various parts of the State. She ordered payment of Rs.1 lakh each to their families from Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund.
Five of the six victims were women. Another electrocution case condoled by Ms.Jayalalithaa involved a school student, Palraj, in Vridhachalam, Cuddalore district.
He died after an overhead cable snapped and fell on him on August 1 near his school.
She also condoled the death of Kumar after a balcony collapsed in a building under construction in Mamallapuram on July 18.
On Tuesday, Ms.Jayalalithaa had condoled the electrocution of seven persons, including six employees of TANGEDCO since June last year.
