Thanking Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for the notification of the final order of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Friday renewed her call for the constitution of Cauvery Management Board to see to it that the order was implemented fully.

The Chief Minister, in her letter to the Prime Minister, drew his attention to the conclusion of the Tribunal that it would be absolutely necessary to establish a mechanism which should be entrusted with the function/supervision/operation of reservoirs and with regulation of water releases therefrom. The Tribunal recommended the establishment of Cauvery Management Board and Cauvery Water Regulation Committee, with the details of their composition, role and functions, Ms. Jayalalithaa pointed out.

She requested Mr. Singh to ensure that the Board and the Committee were constituted by the Union Ministry of Water Resources forthwith to give effect to all the provisions of the final order of the Tribunal.
