Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Saturday called upon her partymen to take a pledge to defeat the DMK in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai.

In a statement here she alleged that DMK leader M. Karunanidhi betrayed the interests of Tamil Nadu on all issues concerning the State.

“He is responsible for the plight of Sri Lankan Tamils; he ensured that the final order of the Cauvery Water Tribunal was not published in the gazette; he remained silent on the Mullaperiyar dam issue; the DMK voted in favour of foreign direct investment (FDI in retail sector and the Food Security Bill that is against the State,” she said.

Ms. Jayalalithaa alleged while Anna put an end to the Congress rule in the State by espousing federalism, self-respect and rationalism, Mr. Karunanidhi surrendered to the Congress.

“Expose his politics centring on selfishness and make him bite dust in the Lok Sabha polls,” she said.

Arrangements have been made near the Anna statue in the arterial Anna Salai for the Chief Minister to pay her respects on his 105th birth anniversary.
