Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Wednesday allocated over Rs. 400 crore for upgrading various facilities in more than 700 schools in the State.
The Chief Minister directed the creation of 3,550 teaching vacancies besides other posts, which would cost Rs. 113.38 crore per year to the State exchequer, an official release here said.
Ms. Jayalalithaa approved a sum of Rs. 412.65 crore for upgrading various facilities including infrastructure and procurement of necessary equipment, in as many as 710 schools.
Schools in remote areas and in SC/ST communities would be given priority, it added.
