Recalling the long association of Jains with Tamil Nadu, Finance Minister K. Anbazhagan said their ideals of respect for all life and service to humanity were worth emulating.
Speaking at a function organised by Rajasthan Cosmo Club Foundation (RCCF) to distribute free school uniforms to the needy children, Mr. Anbazhagan said the gesture would encourage students to work harder.
He congratulated the foundation for undertaking the task and also for integrating themselves with the people of the State. “Any north Indian living in Tamil Nadu will consider Tamil Nadu as their homeland,” he added.
Gautham Kothari, president, RCC, said 15,111 sets of uniforms had been stitched for students of around 250 schools in and around the city.
Suresh Gundecha, managing trustee, said 300 persons had been employed over 110 days to produce the uniforms. He said over 95,000 uniforms had been distributed in the last five years and added that under the Cloth Bank initiative over 10 lakh recycled clothes had been distributed.
S. N. Jayamurugan, chairman, SNJ group of companies, was the guest of honour.
