An Additional Director-General of Police under suspension has filed a petition in the Madras High Court for a direction to the Special Court for Prevention of Corruption Act cases, Chennai, to return his passport within a specified time. He said he required the passport for his pilgrimage to Mecca.

In the petition, M.S.Jaffar Sait said that a charge sheet had been filed against him in a case of alleged corruption. The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption had seized his passport and submitted it to the Special Court. The petitioner said his daughter’s wedding is to be solemnised on May 25 this year.

He and other members of the family should undertake the pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina in the first week of June. The passport’s validity had already expired. So he had to make an application for a fresh passport.

For this, the expired passport should be submitted, he said.

Justice Aruna Jagadeesan on Friday adjourned the matter for April 10.
