It’s raining hope in Kanyakumari

The incessant rains which lashed different parts of the district for the last two days brought cheers to the farming community.

As all the dams had comfortable storage of water, the farmers are hopeful of undertaking agriculture operations in full swing.

The water level in Pechipparai dam was 21.95 feet where as it was 5.80 feet on this date last year, the water level in Perunchani dam was 58.65 feet where as it was 26.35 feet, the water level in Chittar I was 8.69 feet where as it was 2.98 feet, the water level in Chittar II was 8.79 feet where as it was 3.08 feet and the water level in Mambazhathuraiyaru was 31.25 feet where as it was 47.90 feet the last year.

The inflow of water in to Pechipparai dam was 423 cusecs where as the out flow was 289 cusecs, 444 cusecs flowed into Perunchani where as the outflow was 206 cusecs and 161 cusecs was the inflow into Chittar I where as the out flow was 175 cusecs.

The maximum rainfall of 27 mm was recorded at Kozhiporvilai and the rainfall recorded in other centres were 22.2 mm in Pechipparai, 10.8 mm in Perunchani, 3 mm in Chittar I, 5.4 mm in Chittar II, 3.6 mm in Poigai dam, 18 mm in Mambazhathuraiyaru, 10 mm in Eraniel, 25 mm in Adayamadai and 17 mm each in Thiruvattar and Mullankinavilai.
