Erode district has made it to the top again this year in SSLC overall pass percentage, scoring a hat-trick in the process.
The district bettered the achievement this year with 98.48 per cent compared to 98.04 in 2015. In the previous year, the overall pass percentage was 97.04 per cent. There were a total of 29,199 registered candidates for the exam.
As soon as the results were known, Chief Education Officer P. Ayyannan sent congratulatory messages to all the headmasters.
Out of 353 schools, 193 are government and government-aided institutions. As many as 91 government schools and 15 aided schools have achieved cent per cent results, Mr. Ayyannan said.
Action plan
School heads implemented a plan of action throughout the academic year to ensure the top ranking.
Special coaching
A series of meetings with headmasters at the start of the academic year was followed by an action plan to reach out to all slow learners in government schools by way of providing them with minimum material prepared by experienced subject teachers. Potential top-scorers were provided special coaching during week-ends, under a provision of Rastriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan.
