The six-day-long counselling for admission into the courses offered by four Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) functioning in the district commenced at the Government ITI, Gorimedu, in the city on Monday.
About 3,600 applications have been received for the about 1,150 seats in the offering in Government ITI, Gorimedu; Government ITI for Women, Gorimedu; Government ITI in Mettur and Government ITI exclusively for ST candidates in Karumanthurai. The sessions commenced on Monday with counselling for special quota candidates such as sportspersons, and wards of ex-servicemen. According to R. Rajendran, Deputy Director of Employment and Training Department and Principal, Government ITI, Gorimedu, there has been good response from the candidates. The counselling will come to an end on July 16.
