The outcome of local body elections will be a repeat of the mandate the people of the State gave to the AIADMK in the Assembly polls six months ago, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa said on Monday. Talking to reporters after casting her vote at a polling booth in Stella Maris College, Ms. Jayalalithaa said that her government has ensured good governance in the State besides improving law and order and implementing various welfare schemes.

“We are fulfilling the promises we made to people. People will give us their overwhelming support as they did in the Assembly elections.” Later, she visited the AIADMK headquarters and unfurled the party flag on the 40th anniversary of its foundation day.

Ms. Jayalalithaa garlanded a statue of AIADMK founder M.G. Ramachandran and distributed sweets to party leaders and cadres. She also released the 40th anniversary souvenir.
