Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley could have used the BJP’s overwhelming mandate to lay a “clearer roadmap” for tax reforms, Jawahar Vadivelu, secretary of the South Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has said.

P. Nandagopal, secretary of the Andhra Chamber of Commerce, welcomed the proposal for setting up the Vishakapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor and developing Krishnapatnam as an industrial smart city.

Tamil Chamber of Commerce president Chozha Naachiar Rajasekar said the enhancement of income tax exemption limit to Rs. 2.50 lakh from Rs. 2 lakh was a small relief but a good beginning.

Syed Muneer Ahmed, president of the National Chamber of Commerce, said the budget proved to be a usual exercise.

M. Rafeeque Ahmed, president of the FIEO, said the budget set a roadmap for inclusive growth, sustainable manufacturing and competitive exports.
