‘It is timely recognition’

Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit congratulated the citizens of Chennai on the occasion of the city being included in the UNESCO’s ‘Creative Cities Network’ for its rich musical tradition.

“It is a momentous and joyous occasion that this great recognition has come when we are approaching the December Music festival,” he said. “As the Governor of Tamil Nadu, the first citizen of the State and as a resident of Chennai, I am happy that Chennai has been promoting our rich culture, tradition and nurturing Carnatic music, classical dance, drama and arts and strengthening the fabric of our national unity in diversity,” he said.

The Governor congratulated all the artists, sabhas, connoisseurs of art, rasikas and Chennaiites.
