Iqbal Singh denies report

D.K. Mishra, Secretary to Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Iqbal Singh, has denied that Dr. Singh had served as an Army officer before branching off to academics.

Responding to the news report — “ >15 Governors are former civil servants, police officers, army men ” ( The Hindu, March 12) — he said that Dr. Singh had never been part of the armed forces.
