IPS officers reshuffled, 5 promoted as ADGP

IG of Idol Wing CID transferred

The State government on Friday promoted five IPS officers to the post of Additional Director-General of Police and effected 30 other transfers, with A.G. Ponn Manickavel, IG, Idol Wing CID, transferred and posted as IG, Railways.

Karunasagar, IG, Modernisation, has been promoted as Additional DGP and posted as ADGP, Establishment; Rajeev Kumar, IG, has been promoted and posted as ADGP, Modernisation; Sandeep Rai Rathore, IG, Coastal Security Group, has been promoted and posted as ADGP, Special Task Force, Erode; Abhay Kumar Singh, IG & ACP Traffic, has been promoted and posted as ADGP, Police/Chief Vigilance Officer, TNPL, Pugalur, Karur, while K. Vanniya Perumal, IG Training, has been promoted and posted as ADGP, Metropolitan Transport Corporation Ltd in a newly created post.

The government has shifted out Mr. Manickavel out of the Idol Wing CID, and has promoted R. Tamil Chandran, DIG, Vellore Range as IG, Idol Wing CID.

Mr. Manickavel had appeared before the Madras High Court on Thursday and explained to the court the details regarding a case in which a Deputy Superintendent of Police is alleged to have had a role in the illegal export of antique idols in 2008.

Among the other officers promoted are Anand Kumar Somani, formerly DIG, Madurai range, as Inspector General without prejudice to his Central deputation. N. Rajasekaran, DIG, Armed Police, is posted as IG, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, SIC, Chennai; P. Nagarajan, DIG, Salem Range, promoted as IG, and posted as Commissioner, Tiruppur City.

N. Baskaran, DIG, has been promoted as IG, Crime, Chennai.
