IPS officers’ body flays media reports

December 18, 2017 07:46 am | Updated 07:46 am IST - CHENNAI

The IPS Officers’ Association, Tamil Nadu Chapter, has condemned news articles published by a section of the media levelling serious allegations against retired Director-General of Police S. George and others, linking their names to the gutkha scam.

In a statement, the association held some serving/retired officers responsible for “feeding baseless information” to the press and requested them to desist from doing so. Pointing out that the officers concerned were “highly demoralised” by such articles, the association said the matter (gutkha scam) was sub-judice and a full-fledged inquiry was being conducted by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption. It appealed to the media to wait for the outcome of the inquiry.
