Krishnagiri Municipality would soon have in place an integrated municipal complex.
The complex proposed to be spread over 30,000 sq.ft will house Public Health, Engineering, Revenue, Noon-meal, ICDS, Town Planning among other divisions, enabling it to function as a single-roof facility. The project has been conceived at an estimated cost of Rs.3.5 crore under the Infrastructure Gap Filling Fund for 2014-15 and is being setup on the existing Municipal office premises. Out of the existing six buildings, four buildings have been demolished to make way for the new complex, said K.C. Thangamuthu, Chaiperson, Krishnagiri Municipality.
The new integrated complex has been conceived as one roof facility for the public. “Currently, various facilities are located across the campus, and the public will have to move from one block to another. Once the integrated complex comes into place, it would wind up as a one-stop shop,” Mr.Thangamuthu said.
Across various Municipalities, new integrated structures are being constructed to meet infrastructure deficit. Hosur Municipality is similarly on the verge of completing a Rs.6.5 crore integrated complex, the Chairperson told The Hindu .
At present, two buildings have been retained to carry out municipal administration works. The project is slated to be completed within six months. Earlier, the foundation stone was laid for the integrated building complex in the presence of the Chairperson Thangamuthu, Krishnagiri MLA K.P.Munusamy, and Muncipal officials and councillors.
