A Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) team arrested an inspector of police here on Monday for accepting bribe.

According to officials, Babu Ravichandran (40), inspector of Latheri circle, had demanded Rs. 10,000 from V. Sampath (48) of Pallakollai village, Panamadangi in a criminal case against him registered at Panamadangi police station on November 12, last year. The inspector agreed to reduce the bribe amount to Rs. 8,000 after Mr. Sampath had made a request.

Following this, Sampath lodged a complaint with the DVAC police.

A team led by M. Balasubramanian, Additional Superintendent of Police, DVAC, Vellore, nabbed the inspector while he was allegedly accepting the cash at the Latheri police station on Monday.
