Indian Bank to open six new branches

The Indian Bank is planning to open six new branches in the Thanjavur Zone soon, Deputy General Manager B. Veeraraghavan told customers at a meet on credit facilities the bank was offering to customers here on Wednesday. Stating that the bank was extending customer-friendly services, Mr. Veeraraghavan said there were 84 branches at present in the zone comprising Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, and Nagapattinam districts. Of them, 40 branches were in Thanjavur district alone.

The bank had drafted a proposal to open three new branches in the periphery of Thanjavur and three more in other areas of the zone soon, he said.

Mr. Veeraraghavan said the business volume of the zone stood at around Rs. 6,000 crore with advances to the tune of Rs. 2,900 crore and deposits amounting to Rs. 3,100 crore as of the previous quarter of the current fiscal. The bank had rolled out attractive plans suiting specific category customers to increase its presence in the zone, Mr. Veeraraghavan said.
