The effective steps taken by the Narendra Modi regime in the last two years has not only enabled the country to achieve overall development in all fields, but also made India the fastest growing economy in the world, said Union Minister for Law and Justice D.V. Sadananda Gowda.

Speaking at a party workers meeting in the city on Thursday evening, Mr. Gowda said that Mr. Modi has given a totally corruption-free government and this was his best achievement.

The previous NDA regime under A.B. Vajpayee, too, had achieved wonders, but it was defeated in the next elections as the good deeds were not taken to the people. Hence, the Prime Minister has directed the Central Ministers and party leaders to visit various cities and towns and explain the achievements of his government to the people.

The Centre is moving ahead with a clear vision and its transparent functioning has won the accolades of all sections of the society. It has fulfilled all the poll promises.

Schemes such as Atal Pension Yojana, Jandhan Yojana, Prime Minister Suraksha Beema Yojana, Mudra Yojana, Jeevan Jyothi Beema Yojana, Start Up India, and Clean India campaign have proved a big hit with the entire society.

He said that the Centre has been treating all the States equally and has been allotting funds without any prejudice. In the 13th Finance Commission recommendation, 32 per cent from the ex-chequer was earmarked for the States. But in the 14th Finance Commission, Mr. Modi directed allotment of 42 per cent to the States.

Referring to the interest evinced by the Centre in Tamil Nadu, Mr. Gowda said that about Rs. 1,082 crore was allotted as disaster fund to Tamil in the five-year regime of UPA II. But in the two-year Modi regime, a sum of Rs. 3,715 crore has been sanctioned, of which Rs. 776 crore had already been released, he said.

Nihal Chand Meghwal, Union Minister of State for Panchayat Raj, Tamilisai Soundararajan, State president of the BJP, and others spoke.

Earlier, Mr. Gowda and Mr. Meghwal also addressed a meeting of the industrialists, business community, social activists etc on the achievements of the Modi Government. They also clarified the doubts raised by them in the interaction session.
