India aims to reach out to global giants for engineering exports

Russian companies to exhibit products at the engineering show here

Around 200 companies from Russia will be exhibiting their technology products at the sixth edition of the International Engineering Sourcing Show (IESS), a three-day event that will be held at the Chennai Trade Centre starting March 16.

“Russia is the partner country for this event. Delegates from various regions including Moscow, Sverdlovsk, Tambov and Kaluga regions, Krasnoyarsk Krai, the Republic of Tatarstan and the Sakha (Yakutia) Republic will participate,” said Mr. Sergey.L.Kotov, Consul General of the Russian Federation, Chennai at the curtain raiser event of IESS. He added, “India and Russia still have a very good capacity for developing mutually beneficial projects in various fields, including energy, industry, IT and scientific field, space research, pharmaceuticals and bio-medicine products.

Indo-Russian cooperation in the field of industry and manufacturing can perfectly fit in the Make in India initiative.” The bilateral trade between India and Russia stood at $6.17 billion in 2015-16.

B. Sarkar, Executive Director and Secretary of Engineering Export Promotion Council India (EEPC), said, “We have huge potential to reach out to global companies for engineering exports through this event. ”

Mangatram Sharma, Princiapal Secretary, MSME department, Government of Tamil Nadu, said, “Tamil Nadu will be represented during the show with more than 70 companies participating.” He also requested EEPC to conduct more such activities in Chennai, which has a huge MSME base.

IESS is India’s largest international engineering sourcing show organised by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, with EEPC India as the lead agency. It will have the largest display of engineering products and solutions with substantial number of overseas buyers and trade buyers. “The focus sectors this year will be industrial supply, automotive components, metal and shop floor, industrial and electrical machinery,” said T.S. Bhasin, Chairman of EEPC India.
