The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board officials demolished nine bleaching and dyeing units functioning without proper licence in the outskirts of the city on Thursday.

The nine bleaching and dyeing units were functioning at Ammani Kondalampatti and G. K. Karattur areas in a clandestine manner. Based on complaints from the local public, the TNPCB officials inspected these units and demolished them.

According to A. Rangasamy, District Engineer, TNPCB, these units were functioning on the premises which resembled like houses. They don’t qualify to obtain licence as they were situated in five km radius of River Tirumanimutharu flowing across the city.
