‘Will present 13th budget’

Finds bar licence bribery charges against him part of a political conspiracy

January 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

Finance Minister K.M. Mani on Tuesday stoutly asserted that he would present the State Budget for 2015-16 for the 13{+t}{+h}time on March 13.

He also went on to maintain his earlier stand that the bar bribery allegations against him and the campaign demanding his resignation was part of a political conspiracy.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Mani said he was determined to perform his duty as the Finance Minister by presenting the budget.

He was not scared by the Opposition Left Democratic Front’s (LDF) threats that it would block him from presenting his Budget speech.

The LDF’s demand served to expose its degeneration. Presenting the annual financial statement was the foremost duty of the government and the Opposition should come forward to perform its duty.

“The United Democratic Front (UDF) is my strength. And I will be presenting the budget as the UDF’s Finance Minister. As long as there is a Finance Minister, it is his responsibility to present the budget,” he remarked.
