IT searches Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Group

Officials span to educational institutions, residences, business establishments

Income Tax department officials carried out simultaneous searches at the Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Group of Institutions in Perambalur on Thursday.

The residences of the group founder, A. Srinivasan, and his family members in Perambalur and Tiruchi were also searched.

The day-long operation commenced early in the day with officials splitting into different teams and conducting checks at various places.

Sources said the searches were conducted on the sprawling campus of the Dhanalakshmi Group of Institutions, housing engineering, arts and science and polytechnic colleges, along Thuraiyur Road.

Checks were also conducted at the chit fund office run by the group and the medical college situated along the Tiruchi-Chennai National Highway in Siruvachur near Perambalur for several hours.

The sources said a team conducted the search at the residence of Mr. Srinivasan, besides carrying out checks at his native Pudhunaduvalur village in the district.

Police sources said checks were also conducted at the house of Kathiravan, Mr. Srinivasan’s son, in Annamalai Nagar, Tiruchi.

The searches were conducted at seven places in Perambalur district alone.
