A proposal to revive the Hindustan Photo Films (HPF) is under the consideration of the Committee of Secretaries, according to the Chairman cum Managing Director of the company P. Jagadeeswaran.
Speaking to press persons at Indunagar near here on Tuesday, he said that it had been recently forwarded to the Cabinet Secretariat.
Adverting to the efforts being made to stabilise the ailing company, he said that the Tamil Nadu Government has agreed to refund Value Added Tax for ten years and reduce it from 12.5 per cent to 4 per cent for Medical X-Ray.
It has also agreed for an electricity tax exemption for ten years.
Pointing out that various other concessions had been sought, he expressed confidence that they would be granted.
Claiming that the company has shown tremendous improvement in its operations during the current year, Mr. Jagadeeswaran said that during the period April-December 2010 its production was worth Rs.40 crore. It represented an increase of 142 per cent over the corresponding period of 2009.
The sales during the period were Rs.32 crore as against Rs.19 crore during the corresponding period.
HPF which was an ISO 9001:2000 company till now has been accredited with ISO 9001:2008 certification by the British Certifications INC.
