Public, Tamil enthusiasts and those who had worked in Singapore took out a silent procession here on Thursday and paid their homage to the memory of former Singapore Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew who died a couple of days back.

Tamilar Desiya Munnani general secretary Ayanapuram C.Murugesan led the memorial rally from Railady to the Old Bus Stand where a meeting was held in which speakers recalled the great qualities of the Singapore leader who had helped Tamils prosper in the city state through his inclusive growth agenda encompassing all communities.

Those who spoke at the meeting included CPI State Committee member C.Chandrakumar, Singapore Tamilian Durai Kubendran, IJK district president Simione Xavier Raj, MDMK's V.Viduthalai Vendhan, AITUC district president R.Thillaivanan and secretary Durai Mathivanan.
