Carrying candles in the early hours of Saturday, over 250 workers of Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation here paid homage in front of the depot at Vannarpet to eight crew who were killed in the TNSTC resting room roof collapse at Poraiyar depot in Nagapattinam district on Friday.

The workers said the State should give adequate compensation ₹10 lakh each to the families of the crew who were killed in the accident. It should take care of the education of the deceased crew’s children and give employment to a family member.

Above all, the government should inspect all the TNSTC buildings and remove dilapidated structures. Adequate funds should be earmarked for repairing all recently built buildings of the TNSTC and the State Express Transport Corporation, especially the resting rooms.
