Hogenakkal project in six months

People of Dharmapuri district will taste the Cauvery water through Hogenakkal Drinking Water Supply and Fluorosis Mitigation Project within six months, Higher Education Minister P. Palaniappan said here on Sunday.

Home appliances distributed

Distributing home appliances to beneficiaries in two separate functions in Dharmapuri district, he said the government had allocated Rs. 750-crore for the project.

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had instructed officials to complete the project at the earliest. The power cut problem would be eased soon, he said, referring to various measures of the government.

Udangudi thermal power project

He also adverted to the government's recent decision of taking up the Rs. 8,000-crore Udangudi thermal power generation project as a State-sector project.

The Minister handed over home appliances, costing Rs. 69.54 lakh, to 1,353 beneficiaries who were from three villages - Ganapathypatti of Harur taluk and Pappichettipatti and Iramiyanpatti of Pappireddipatti taluk.
