The Madras High Court Bench here on Thursday restrained the Inspector of Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) in Kanniyakumari district from arresting anti-nuclear activist S.P. Udhayakumar, 57, till July 6 in a case registered against him in September 2012 under the provisions of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010.

Justice J. Nisha Banu passed the interim order since the prosecution sought time to file its objections to an anticipatory bail application preferred by the activist and also because it was represented before her that the petitioner had been cooperating with the investigation in the case booked on the basis of a complaint lodged by a top official of the Union Home Ministry.
