After a clash between supporters of MDMK general secretary Vaiko and Naam Tamilar Katchi leader Seeman at Tiruchi airport, Mr. Seeman and the MDMK members filed separate petitions seeking anticipatory bail before the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court.

Justice T. Krishnavalli, hearing the pleas, adjourned the case by a week for further hearing.

Mr. Seeman, in his petition, denied having committed any offence and claimed that he was not present when the incident happened.

The MDMK cadre said in their petitions that supporters of Seeman made comments against Mr. Vaiko, which led to the clash.

Tiruchi Golden Rock police have booked a case under Sections 147 (Rioting), 148 (Rioting armed with deadly weapon), 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 160 (Committing affray) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 3 of the Tamil Nadu Property (Prevention of Damage and Loss) Act.
