March 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:51 am IST - TIRUNELVELI:

Superintendent of Police V. Vikraman launched the ‘Hello Police’ awareness rally at Thaazhaiyooththu near here on Monday.

The Tirunelveli district police launched ‘Hello Police,’ a mechanism to control crime here on Saturday. With the introduction of calling ‘Hello Police’ on 9952740740, a common platform has been provided to the public to share crime-related information with the police for speedy action.

To popularise this mechanism among the public, awareness stickers carrying ‘Hello Police’ mobile phone number 9952740740, were stuck on autorickshaws at Thaazhaiyooththu on Monday.

The auto drivers then took out a rally from Thaazhaiyooththu via Rajavallipuram, Naranammalpuram and Arugankulam before reaching the starting point.

Mr. Vikraman said the public can use this number to inform the police on unlawful developments in their areas.
