Head-on collision kills one in Bangalore-Chennai Highway

One person was killed and three others were injured in a road accident in Samalpallam village on the Bangalore-Chennai National Highway on Sunday morning.

According to police, G. Rajesh Kumar (28) of Ramagoundanur of Omalur Taluk in Salem district was killed on the spot when the car in which he was driving towards Bangalore dashed against a car proceeding to Gudiyatham coming in the opposite direction after hitting a lorry from the backside.

The freak accident took place around 7 a.m.. The driver Aadhimoolam, proceeding to Gudiyatham from Bangalore, lost control after hitting the lorry from the backside and jumped out of the centre median and dashed against the car coming in the opposite direction.

The deceased was the driver of the car hired by Mr. Sivashanmugam’s family to travel from Omalur to Bangalore. Shivashanmugam, his wife Mekala and their son Karthikeyan were injured in the accident. All the four including the driver of the car were taken to the Government Headquarters’ Hospital in Krishnagiri.

Shoolagiri police have registered a case and are investigating.
