Justice A. Selvam, the administrative judge of the Madras High Court Bench here, on Thursday deposited ₹10,000 of his personal money in a bank account opened by the Registrar (Administration) of the court for the purpose of mobilising money to eradicate seemai karuvelam (prosopis juliflora) trees from the State.

According to court officials, the move would encourage many others, including advocates, especially senior counsels, to donate liberally for the cause since the major grouse of the government officials was insufficiency of funds to weed out the trees.
