The Madras High Court on Monday disposed of a PIL disputing the date of the death of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

“As of now, there is a death certificate issued by a reputed specialty hospital, namely Apollo Hospital[s], which shows that the then CM died on December 5, 2016,” the Bench comprising Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice R. Hemalatha said.

The Bench said there was a commission of inquiry which was conducting an independent investigation, which would “obviously inquire into the cause of death as well as the date of death”.
