The Madras High Court on Thursday directed the government to file its response to a writ petition by Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi MP Thol.Thirumavalavan challenging an order of the Villupuram District Collector of May 16 banning his entry into the district.

Justice B.Rajendran posted the matter for further hearing on May 29.

Mr.Thirumavalavan submitted that the Collector’s order restricted him from going to his constituency, Chidambaram in Cuddalore district, via Tindivanam, Marakkanam and Kottakuppam in Villupuram district. He could not discharge his duty as an MP. When the matter came up, Government Pleader S.T.S.Moorthy took notice.
