There has been a growing awareness among the school students about their career prospects and it is being reflected in the increase in the pass percentage and quality performance in the public examinations, said N. Arul Murugan, Chief Educational Officer, here on Saturday.

Distributing a guide ‘Vetri un kaiyil’ to benefit the students who will appear for the SSLC public examinations to be held in March this year, he referred to the increase in the pass percentage in the public examinations in the last two years in the district. “From 20-th position in the state, the district has registered a growth and got elevated to the 15-th rank in terms of performance in the public examinations,” he said.

He said that the special coaching being offered by teachers had gone a long way in improving the performance of students in the public examinations.

R.M.V. Kathiresan, founder of the Venkateswara Polytechnic College, which sponsored the guide, appealed to students to utilise the guide properly.

At a special session held as part of the programme, a group of teachers explained the methodology adopted for preparing the guide.
