Collector receives over 700 petitions related to land pattas, employment

Vellore District Collector R. Nanthagopal received 714 petitions from the public during the weekly public grievances redressal day camp held at the Collectorate here on Monday. The petitions related to land pattas, patta transfers, free house site pattas, employment, assistance to the differently-abled, old age pension, police protection and power connection.

The Collector directed the concerned departmental officers to take immediate action on the petitions.

He distributed on the occasion aids including a cheques for Rs.23.87 lakhs by way of compensation received from Muscat to the family of a person who died in that country, Rs.3.19 lakhs to the family of a person who died in Saudi Arabia, and Rs.1.02 lakhs from the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund to the widow of a person who died in a road accident.

Sewing machines

He also handed over sewing machines to five beneficiaries on behalf of the Department of Social Welfare, electric sewing machines to 10 beneficiaries through the District Differently Abled Welfare Office, and family cards on behalf of the District Supply Office to 11 beneficiaries.

District Revenue Officer K. Manivannan, Project Director, District Rural Development Agency, M. Manohar Singh, Special Deputy Collectors Kumaresan (special projects implementation), Madhivanan (social security scheme), District Supply Officer Kandasamy and District Adhi Dravidar Welfare Officer Udayakumar participated.

In Tiruvannamalai

Tiruvannamalai District Collector A. Gnanasekharan distributed aids worth Rs.1.70 lakhs to seven beneficiaries at the public grievances redressal day camp held at Tiruvannamalai.

The aids comprised solatium of Rs.50,000 on behalf of the Department of Ex-Servicemen’s Welfare to Jayanthi, widow of Ramamoorthy, a serviceman who died in service, and marriage assistance of Rs.20,000 each to six girls, who are heirs of ex-servicemen.

The Collector received 520 petitions from the public on the occasion. They related to education scholarship, bank loans, marriage assistance,, old age pension, free house site pattas, community certificate, widow pension and assistance to the differently-abled.

S. Palani, District Revenue Officer and Anandakumar Personal Assistant (General) to the Collector participated.
