Enquiries reveal that while the application filed on behalf of Dr.Anbumani last week seeking bail in connection with the 2012 case was considered positively by the District Munsif Court, Thirukazhukundram on Monday, the Mamallapuram police submitted a fresh affidavit before the same court seeking to detain the former Union Minister in connection with a case filed a few days ago.

He was booked under sections 143 and 188 of IPC under which his father and PMK founder, Dr.S.Ramdoss, PMK president, G.K.Mani, Vanniyar Sangam president and MLA, J.Guru, former Union Minister, A.K.Moorthy, former MLA, K.Armugham and the sound and amplifier service provider, Ganesan of Chennai, were arrested by the Mamallapuram police recently. The Munsif Court granted bail to all the six persons. They were charged with indulging in acts disturbing public peace and violating the permit conditions laid down by the police for conducting the Chithirai Muzhunilavu Peruvizha on April 25 this year. Dr.Anbumani faced similar charges.

The Mamallapuram police registered a case against Mr.Guru a few days ago on charges of making provocative speeches and indulging in acts of criminal intimidation of women or acts intended to insult the modesty of women at this year’s Chithirai Muzhunilavu Peruvizha. He was arrested again by the Mamallapuram police and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.
