The government schools as well as private schools in the district have put up an impressive performance in the SSLC public examinations 2013 in the district compared with last academic year’s achievement. A total of 79 schools – government schools 19, aided 5 and self financing schools 55 – secured 100 per cent pass this year.
In the last academic year, only 49 schools – government schools 7, aided three and self financing schools 39 – had managed this magic figure.
As many as 18 government schools had missed the cent per cent result by a whisker, with a single student failing in the examinations.
As high as 54 government schools had secured 90 – 99 per cent, compared to 37 institutions in the 2012 examinations. The number of government schools which secured 75 – 89 per cent pass has shot up to 80 now from 63 last year. While 17 government schools had secured less than 60 per cent pass last year, the figure has come down to eight this year, indicating that a large number of government schools have fared extremely well, said N. Arul Murugan, Chief Educational Officer.
At least 10 government schools which had secured a pass percentage ranging from 36 – 54 last year, have shown an impressive performance from 70 – 82 per cent. The Government School at Kottaipattinam secured 82 per cent now (last year 36 per cent); Pallavarayanpatthai 82 (51); Subramaniapuram 81 (48); Ambalavananendal 80 (53); Keeranur 79 (53); Government HSS, Avudaiyarkoil 78 (39); Government Boys HSS, Avudaiyarkoil 78 (53); Neerpazhani 74 (49); Avur 72 (43); and Kattumavadi 70 (54).
Pudukottai district rose to 24th position this year, from 28 last year in SSLC.
A student of Government Higher Secondary School in Alangudi, L. Shanmugapriya secured 493 marks becoming the top scorer among government school students in the district.
