DMK working president M.K. Stalin on Friday alleged that even though Tamil Nadu was facing power cuts, the State government remained indifferent to the issue.
“The government does not have the time to think about the power cuts. The priority of the ministers is to bring together the two factions of the AIADMK,” he told reporters after the district secretaries’ meeting.
He said even though the DMK and delegates from other parties were ready to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in connection with the farmers’ issue, the latter had not allotted time for them.
Mr. Stalin strongly criticised the affidavit filed in the Supreme Court by the State government that farmers in the State had not committed suicide due to crop loss. “It is the greatest injustice to them,” he said.
Imposition of Hindi
Accusing the BJP government of imposing Hindi on non-Hindi speaking States, particularly Tamil Nadu, the district secretaries’ meeting on Friday said such moves would only damage the federal structure and unity of the country.
Urging the Centre to give up its plans to impose Hindi, the resolution called upon the district secretaries to organise meetings and conferences to expose the Centre’s motive.
Another resolution demanded exemption for Tamil Nadu from NEET, saying it would pose a great threat to the future of students from rural areas.
The meeting also urged the State government to implement total prohibition in Tamil Nadu.
