Collective performance of government school students pushed up the overall Plus Two pass percentage of Erode district to top position in the State at 96.92.

Of the 24,737 students who had passed in the public examinations, 9,983 belonged to 90 government schools.

The 94.85 pass percentage of government school students this year depicted a nearly two percentage point rise compared to last year’s 92.97.

There has been a noticeable increase in the number of government schools getting centum passes as well.

In 2014, there were 19 government schools with cent per cent pass, and in 2015, the number of schools with the distinction dropped to 14. This year, the number of government schools with cent per cent pass has more than doubled to 29.

The performance by government schools, headmasters said, would reflect in more number of admissions.

Every year, the government approves upgrade of two or more schools with higher secondary level.

Last year, the Government High Schools at Ayyampalayam and Periyapuliyur were converted into higher secondary schools.
