The Government Headquarters Hospital will soon be equipped with a dialysis unit, Secretary of Health and Family Welfare J. Radhakrishnan informed on Monday.
Measures initiated for the purpose was at an end-stage, Mr. Radhakrishnan said after inspecting the hospital. He determined the functioning of digital x-ray section, neonatal intensive care unit, blood purification centre, Siddha section, and other facilities in the hospital.
During the visit, Mr. Radhakrishnan interacted with patients admitted in the maternity ward equipped with 200 beds, and enquired about upkeep of vaccination schedule. In Tamil Nadu, about 60 to 70 per cent of deliveries were taking place in government hospitals, he said. Accompanied by District Collector S. Prabakar, Joint Director of Medical Services Mani, Hospital Superintendent Radha Sounderarajan and other senior officials, Mr. Radhakrishnan requested for people’s support to combat dengue. There was no cause for panic, but people have to keep surroundings clean leaving no scope for proliferation of the mosquitoes that breed in stagnating fresh water.
Awareness was being carried out through the Health Department about the impact of Siddha treatment through consumption of Nilavembu Kasayam , Papaya and Malaivembu juice.
