Goods carrier kills one, injures several

A 40-year-old woman was killed and 14 others were injured when the mini goods carrier in which they were travelling, overturned on the Manpathai-Pothapatti road in Vaiyampatti police station limits on Saturday.

A group of people were proceeding to a temple in the goods carrier when the accident occurred, the police said. The deceased was identified as P. Sirumbayee. The injured, including eight women, were admitted to the Government Hospital, Manapparai, and later referred to the Annal Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital, Tiruchi. The vehicle driver K. Nandagopal was arrested. The Vaiyampatti police has registered a case.
