Global Petros’15, a two-day seminar on `A New Trend in Petroleum Engineering’ was conducted at the Global Institute of Engineering and Technology (GIT) at Melvisharam recently.
K. Sridar, former geologist of the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board and Visiting Professor of Anna University spoke on careers in geology which he described as the emerging science of the century.
V.A. Muralidharan, General Manager, Tamil Nadu Petroproducts Limited gave an overview about how petroleum engineers can make use of the immense potential in the petroleum industry.
M. Lavanya, Senior Manager-Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited made a presentation on processes involved in petroleum refineries and the importance of petroleum engineering in emerging economies. G.S. Sridharan, Senior Process Engineer, United Oil and Gas Engineering Ltd., Chennai trained students on process engineering tool ASPEN-HYSYS, an sautomation tool used in petroleum industry.
Students were imparted United Oil and Gas Engineering Ltd-certified training and certificates at the end. Hema Prasad, College Chairperson and Ram Prasad, College Chairman presided. Tamizharasu, Principal welcomed the gathering.
