“Submit Aadhaar numbers”

Details of about 3.62 lakh ration cardholders have so far been entered in the Point of Sales machines in ration shops as part of the computerisation of the public distribution system in the district. The district has a total of 4,54,321 cardholders, Collector S.Palanisamy said in a press release.

The cardholders are required to provide their mobile phone numbers and Aadhaar card numbers. About 59 per cent of cardholders’ mobile phone numbers have been registered so far. However, only 14 per cent of the cardholders have provided their Aadhaar numbers, which are required to issue smart cards. He urged cardholders to submit the numbers at the earliest.
