The caste Hindu girl whose marriage to a Dalit boy led to a mob fury in three Dalit colonies in the district, on November 7, has been reported missing from Sunday.

N. Divya had married I. Ilavarasan of Natham Colony near Naikkankotai village. Her father committed suicide when she refused to return home on November 7. That evening, a mob set fire to houses in this colony and two others nearby. The couple were in hiding in Bangalore for some time after the attack and returned to Dharmapuri when the situation settled down a bit. Ilavarasan, his parents and Divya, however, did not stay in Natham Colony fearing attack or an attempt to take the girl to her house in Sellamkottai village. . Instead, they stayed at Dharmapuri town. Illavarasan and his parents lodged a complaint with the police on Tuesday evening that she was missing after she had gone to visit her ailing grandmother. Town police have registered a case and are investigating.
