A school student was kidnapped on Tuesday morning and later thrown out from a vehicle in a gunny bag.

According to police, some people noticed a gunny bag pushed from a vehicle which was crossing the railway gate at Madurantakam. They then found an unconscious girl in the bag. Immediately, she was rushed to the nearby Government Taluk Headquaters hospital from where she was referred to Chengalpattu Medical College Hospital.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the girl, Praveena (15) of Paalaiyur near Cheyyur, was a class X student in a school at Cheyyur. When she got down from a van near the Cheyyur bus stand around 9 a.m. on her way to school, three persons came by in a car, dragged her in and sped away. Subsequently, she was abandoned near the railway gate at Madurantakam.

Later in the evening, Praveena regained consciousness at the hospital but was still in a dazed condition. The exact cause for the kidnap and subsequent release could be ascertained only after the victim recovered from the shock, police added.
